United Airlines Bans Antlers & Horns

If you plan on hunting somewhere that requires an air carrier to get you there, you may want to consider an airline other than United. Under their Baggage Restictions category it states "United Airlines does not accept antlers or animal horns as checked or carry-on baggage on any flights."

The Sr. Vice-President of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has sent a letter to the President of United Airlines protesting this ban.

"I am greatly concerned about United's policy prohibiting passengers from carrying on or checking antlers or animal horns. This is an ill-informed policy that would seem to be anti-hunting in nature. Certainly, it is a policy that stands to alienate the country's 20 million sportsmen and women, many of whom, no doubt, fly the friendly skies. I strongly encourage you to revisit this policy. If United still fails to address the very reasonable needs of hunters to check or bring aboard their antlers or animal horns, sportsmen will be forced to utilize other airlines, a reality that this organization will have no problem advocating".

As of this writing United has not responded or modified their position.
