Leica CRF 900
Knowing when a gobbler is within range is critical to success in turkey hunting. A ten-yard misjudgment could be the difference between letting a bird that is in range walk off or worse, wounding a bird that was just out of range. It has been proven in numerous military field tests that the average person ranges with a probable error of 30 percent. The chances of misjudging distance goes up significantly when you factor in the excitement of hearing and seeing a Tom strutting his stuff as well as constantly changing location and terrain. To alleviate the estimation error, Leica offers the CRF 900 rangefinder.
Ideal for turkey hunting, because of its compact, lightweight design it can easily fit into the shirt pocket of a turkey vest. This Leica rangefinder offers the fastest reading in the industry and the most accurate laser available. The CRF 900 is accurate to +/- 2 yards up to its full range of 900 yards. Additionally, because hunters use this product in all weather conditions, it has a built-in rain and snow mode that assures accurate readings, even in poor weather. It is fully submersible waterproof to 3.3 feet too insure many years of in the field use.
Be ready this turkey season – do your homework – practice calling, pattern your firearm and get yourself a Leica CRF 900 rangefinder. Take the guess work out of distance estimation and know when that long beard is in range!
This new rangefinder is available at sporting goods stores nationwide. It has a suggested retail price of $595.

With archery seasons across the country only a few months away, now is the time to break out the bow and begin practicing. Selecting the right target to prepare for the season is critical. Dedicated bow hunters throughout the world have depended on the full line of BLOCK® and GlenDel targets and accessories for years. These targets are durable and offer easy arrow removal whether hunting field tips or broadheads.
Both the BLOCK 4x4™ and the GlenDel Full Rut offer the patented Friction Layer™ design on the inside and a revolutionary PosiLock Compression System™ on the outside. The numerous foam layers on the inside of the targets use friction to stop arrows. Even arrows from the fastest bows can’t escape the efficiency of this propriety superior designed layered system. Instead of permanently tunneling and causing damage to the target, this specially designed foam-layered system actually “pinches and squeezes” the arrow and forces it to a stop. An added feature to the BLOCK 4x4 and the GlenDel Full Rut is the PosiLock Compression System exterior on these targets that keeps the layers in place and allows for 4-sided shooting. This unique system also helps to prevent slivering from broadheads.
Getting the arrows out of the BLOCK 4x4 and GlenDel Full Rut is easy due to the patented design of these targets. It does not matter if you are shooting your field tip, fixed blade broadhead, or an expandable, the arrows will simply slide out of the target with very little effort or damage to the target.
Now is the time to get a target and start practicing.
Archery is fun any time of the year, and bow hunters who practice consistently are ready when the moment of truth presents itself. The GlenDel Buck, The GlenDel Full Rut, and the full line of BLOCK targets offer the benefits that have made Field Logic, Inc., well known around hunting campfires across the country. Be ready this year and be on target when the season opens!

DeLorme
YARMOUTH, Maine —As outdoor recreation goes increasingly high tech, more and more consumers are looking for sensible technology solutions to help improve their planning, navigation, and information sharing. DeLorme, the market leader in consumer mapping software, is meeting that demand head-on with its newly-released Topo USA 6.0.
As its name suggests, Topo USA 6.0 covers the entire U.S. with comprehensive terrain detail—represented by elevation contours and shaded relief—all on a single DVD-ROM. This latest version builds on DeLorme’s reputation as the technology leader in mapping software. It delivers next generation 3-D, exclusive routing and GPS capabilities, and the most up-to-date detail available in topographic map software.
Dynamic New 3-D
Topo USA 6.0 introduces a new 3-D flyover experience, to scout the terrain for large areas from the comfort of home. Users adjust their viewing angle from vertical to horizontal, to follow a river or trail through valleys or canyons. They can also circle around a location from any compass point, or get an outward-looking 360-degree perspective from any point. The 3-D images can be viewed in split-screen, side by side with the regular 2-D map, or in full-screen mode.
“Our new 3-D capabilities provide an exceptionally accurate way to preview any U.S. destination,” said DeLorme Marketing Director Caleb Mason. “It’s as close as it gets to being there.”
The Most Up-to-Date Detail Available
Other topographic software products and Web sites are based on scanned USGS 7.5-minute maps that can be up to 30 years out of date. Topo USA 6.0 offers a unique combination of the most current USGS topographic data blended with the latest DeLorme highway, street, back road, and trail database—so customers get the best of both worlds in one product.
There are 290,000 additional roads in this latest version, as well as updated trails in national parks and forests, and additional national scenic and historic trails. Users can download BLM lands at no charge, for viewing at a big-picture perspective. Wildlife management units for hunting are also available for numerous states via free download; the remaining states will be made available over time.
$100 Worth of Aerial Imagery, FREE
DeLorme Aerial Data Packets (ADPs) are another rich source of detail. With their component aerial photos, satellite imagery, and genuine USGS 7.5-minute maps, ADPs provide an enhanced picture of what exists at any location—structures, agricultural lands, new roads, and more. Users can download $100 worth of ADPs for free—more than 38 square miles in all. After that, ADPs can be purchased for $1 per square kilometer, minimum 25 sq. km. per download.
Unlike the free aerial imagery available on the Internet, DeLorme ADPs can be easily integrated with Topo USA 6.0 maps. Users can mark structures, trace roads or trails, or add polygons to show features like clear-cuts or farm fields—all on the ADP image. Any annotations performed on the ADP image will automatically display on the Topo USA 6.0 map with GPS-accurate placement. ADP images can be viewed and annotated in split-screen or full-screen modes, and in 2-D or 3-D.
Exclusive Trail and Road Routing Options
Topo USA 6.0 also offers exclusive automatic routing capabilities. Users simply select their start and finish points, and the program instantly generates a route. If you prefer to go a different way, or create side trips, it’s easy to override the program’s choice using the “via” or “route avoid” features.
Only Topo USA allows users to create routes over trails, as well as roads. The routing function even works on user-added roads or trails—for example, any traced from an aerial image.
Full-featured GPS Capabilities
Road or trail routes can be quickly uploaded to a handheld GPS receiver for worry-free navigation in unfamiliar territory. GPS waypoints or tracks can also be uploaded. When the trip is over, users can download any collected waypoints or tracks. Downloaded tracks, whether self-obtained or from a third party, can be easily converted to routable roads or trails. Like the ability to route on user-added roads or trails, this is an exclusive Topo USA feature.
Topo USA 6.0 offers a full range of GPS options, including the ability to preserve on-device file names, comments, and custom symbol sets upon download from a handheld receiver.
The program also reveals the contents of waypoint and track layers for simplified data management. In addition, the new Earthmate Image Tagger feature lets users link digital photographs to a GPS log to see exactly where and when a picture was taken.
For geocachers, this new version supports the most popular file formats, .gpx and .loc.
Collaboration Made Easy
Topo USA 6.0 makes it easy to collaborate with others when planning an outdoor adventure. The program’s MapShare™ feature lets users share maps, routes, directions, and elevation profiles via a secure Internet link. In the near future, users will be able to join an online community where they can share GPS logs, photos, and other user-created information.
“We see a new opportunity for people to exchange and publish location information for others to share, in keeping with emerging activities surrounding Web 2.0 initiatives,” said Mason.
Topo USA 6.0 also offers a re-designed screen interface that puts the most used functions in a handy top-of-screen toolbar.
Other popular features include the ability to customize the maps with searchable draw objects; instant elevation profiles for any route or linear object; latitude/longitude, UTM/UPS, MGRS, USNG, and SPCS coordinate options; flexible printing features—including a wide range of scales; handy layout tools, and mural printing (2 x 2 or 3 x 3 mosaics) on 8 1/2 ” x 11” or 11” x 17” printers. Users can also preserve memories and observations by attaching photos and documents to the maps.
The program requires Windows (2000 SP3 or XP) and performs optimally on PCs with a 1.8 GHz or higher processor, 700 MB of available hard drive space, and a minimum 256 MB of random access memory (RAM). The National edition ($99.95) is available on DVD-ROM only. East and West regional editions ($49.95 each) are available on CD-ROM only.
Look for Topo USA 6.0 wherever software, maps, or outdoor recreation equipment are sold, or visit www.delorme.com. For more information, call 800-561-5105.
Gun Grabber
Gun Grabber, the maker of the vertical gun holder, has created a product that is ideal for the avid BOW hunter as well. The Gun Grabber was specifically designed to properly and safely store long guns. The shotgun/bow model of the Gun Grabber provides an easy, unique, and safe way to store your bow, both in the field and at your home. This patented product was designed to provide a secure hold on the bow while not harming the finish of the bow.
Constructed from injection molded nylon and injection molded TPE or thermoplastic elastomer, the Gun Grabber provides a durable product with a solid grip, that allows for the quick and easy removal of the bow when the moment of truth is upon you. This product can be used in treestands and is ideal to use at home in the closet, or at hunting camp to help protect and keep your bow safe.
Initially designed as a safety storage device for shotguns by owner and inventor Rob Scott, he has realized the versatility of his invention for other hunting products like the bow. “Bowhunters run into the same storage and safety issues that shotgunners and rifle hunters do. That is why we made a Gun Grabber that was adaptable to the bow. This product keeps the bow safely and conveniently handy for the bow hunter while in the field and helps to protect the bow while not in use.”
This is the perfect holiday, birthday or anytime gift for the outdoor enthusiast; the Gun Grabber is available in rifle or shotgun/ bow models and retails for $24.95. It is available at sporting goods stores nationwide or conveniently online at www.gungrab.com.
The Gun Grabber is compatible with most bows, with the exception of parallel limb bows, however, due to the vast differences in bow construction, bows should be tested at ground level during daylight hours to determine the best way to mount the Gun Grabber. The bracket should be mounted at an approximate 45◦ angle to grip the bow limb. The Gun Grabber will also hold bows between the top bow limb and the cables and strings.
For more information on the Gun Grabber please write to PO Box 888 Magnolia, AR 71754, call toll-free 1.877.486.4722, or visit the Web site.

“Anglers are always looking for something different that might give them an edge in catching more fish,” Bullet Weights President Joe Crumrine said. “We talked with several of our customers who are avid anglers and got input on what have been the hot colors in several lakes and rivers throughout the country. Arbogast Celebrates 75th Anniversary, Offers Collectors Tin Liz   For Immediate Release
Fort Smith, Ark. October 27th, 2004 - Fred Arbogast's lures are a part of sport fishing's living history.
His timeless lure designs - such as the Jitterbug, Hula Popper, Hawaiian Wiggler and Tin Liz - have been tackle box staples for 75 years. While most anglers are quite familiar with the intrinsic value of an Arbogast lure, they may not realize Arbogast's classic designs now earn an entirely
different value as highly coveted collectibles. Many of Arbogast's original designs are worth hundreds of dollars.
"I have an extensive lure collection on a mantle in my home in Hot Springs, Ark.," said Bobby Murray, two-time Bassmaster Classic champion. "I guarantee this Tin Liz will be sitting next to my prized Big 'O' collection. The Tin
Liz is one of the forefathers of the artificial lure."
The two-finned, glass eye Tin Liz is the hallmark of the Tin Liz series. This metal minnow, which was Arbogast's first commercially produced lure, was created in 1928 and trademarked in 1932. Arbogast described it as "the most natural cripple ever made." His fishing friends thought so, too. Demand for the lure grew so quickly that he left his job at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio and started his own fishing lure company in 1930.
Arbogast Lure Company is celebrating its 75th Anniversary by offering an authentic replica of the Arbogast two-fin Tin Liz. This replica has been meticulously recreated from an original lure found in the Arbogast archives.
Today, such a lure in similar condition commands a high price from avid Arbogast collectors. This authentic replica, an ideal Christmas gift, will likely someday establish itself as a truly valuable collectable and is the
perfect lure to be the cornerstone of a new collector's Arbogast antique lure collection.
Arbogast's Limited Edition Tin Liz is available in two original colors, Red Head and Perch, for $29.99 at Cabela's stores or catalog.(800-237-4444)
